Abstract

The aim of the present study was to investigate the consequences of selecting elite athletes for the post of president of the Islamic Republic of Iran Football Federation. The current research was a qualitative research that used the content analysis method to collect data. The research community includes all the news reports related to the characteristics of the head of the Iran and World Football Federation (n=44), which have been fully considered, and all the historical documents related to the heads of the football federation since the establishment of the federation until today (n=27). which was fully noticed by the researchers. The measurement tools were fish sheets and coding logs whose content was determined by qualitative content analysis and then used for quantitative analysis by converting the structures and codes into quantity. In order to check the reliability of coding, Cohen's kappa coefficient method was used. Cohen's kappa coefficient shows 0.857 and it means that there is a high agreement between the two coders. Volcott's thematic analysis method was used to analyze the research data. The results of the research showed that the members of the football federation should take positive steps in the field of promoting international communication, developing moral interests, holding training classes for football managers, developing women's football, and revising the constitution of the football federation. Also, the results of this research can be used in policy making and developing a strategic plan for selecting candidates for the presidency of the football federation and other management positions.
